Hotels in Corby

Corby's history is deeply intertwined with the iron and steel industry, which transformed it from a quiet village into a bustling industrial town in the 1930s. The arrival of Scottish workers to man the steelworks gave the town its enduring nickname, "Little Scotland." Although the steelworks closed in the 1980s, the town has undergone massive regeneration, evidenced by the modern Corby Town Centre and the striking Corby Cube, a contemporary civic building housing a theatre and library. Culturally, Corby retains strong links to its Scottish roots, visible in local traditions, community events, and even local accents. The town is divided into several distinct areas, with the revitalized Town Centre acting as the commercial and cultural hub. Surrounding residential neighborhoods blend seamlessly into the rural outskirts, where the remnants of Rockingham Forest provide a lush, green backdrop. Corby is famous for its Highland Gathering and Scottish Festival, an annual celebration of its unique heritage featuring traditional heavy events, dancing, and pipe bands. Additionally, it serves as a prime jumping-off point for exploring the heritage-rich Nene Valley and the historic Rockingham Castle, making it a town where industrial heritage and rural English charm coexist harmoniously.

Winter (December to February) is the off-peak season with cold, damp weather and shorter daylight hours, but nearby historic houses like Deene Park often host festive events, providing a cozy indoor escape for visitors willing to brave the English chill.
