Ellmau is a true year-round destination, though the best time to visit depends entirely on your desired activities. For winter sports enthusiasts, the prime season runs from mid-December to late March. During these months, the Ellmau Ski Area boasts reliable snow cover, and the village buzzes with apres-ski energy. Expect cold temperatures, festive Christmas markets in December, and thrilling downhill events. Summer, from June to September, is the ideal window for hiking, mountain biking, and paragliding. The Wilder Kaiser mountains burst into life with wildflowers, and the weather is pleasantly warm, averaging around 20 to 25 degrees Celsius. The Kaiser Classic hiking event in summer draws avid trekkers. The shoulder seasons of spring and late autumn offer a quieter, more affordable experience. However, note that some hotels and lifts may close in April and November for maintenance.
